Background

With rapid development of the Internet, original IPv4 addresses have been exhausted. To meet development needs of the Internet in China, the transformation of IPv6 has to be put on the agenda. The General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the Action Plan for Promoting the Large-Scale Deployment of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) in November 2017 to establish independent technology system and industrial ecosystem of the next-generation Internet in China in 5~10 years, and build the world's largest IPv6 commercial application network; to make China's IPv6 network scale, user scale and traffic scale rank first in the world, networks, applications and terminals IPv6-compatible, complete smooth evolution and upgrading to the next-generation Internet, and establish a world-leading next-generation Internet technology industry system by the end of 2025. If the first stage is to establish IPv6 capability, the second stage is to migrate applications involving high traffic. IPv6 involved applications are imminent to transform.
